Update on Iraq

In December 2005, more than 12 million Iraqis turned out to vote in elections for a 275-member Council of Representatives. The representatives would serve four-year terms and would be the beginning of a permanent Iraqi government. Also elected were a Prime Minister and other government ministers, a President, and the Federal Supreme Court.
