IRAQ The Terror of Our Ways
by Frank BarbaroIf the London bombings had not happened Western governments, and all others who claim the biggest problem the world faces is terrorism, would have had to manufacture a distraction from the layers of hypocrisy upon hypocrisy and the urgent political and economic reforms needed to stop the rapid erosion of what is left of our civility, fairness and natural environment which, as the Iraqi quagmire shows, is taking a battering. Like a well-rehearsed mantra the defiant response by Blair, Bush, Howard and the rest, to the London bombings, was that terrorist would not change the West. Was it lost to the media, which slavishly regurgitates institutional information, that it was the West, headed by US President George Bush, which waged war on other peoples under the guise of spreading democracy?
